I run fabric sculpting and mixed media workshops across the south of County Durham in the North East of England. You can find more information about the different workshops I run, plus dates and venues on my workshops page. My workshops cater for all levels of creative experience and everything you need to complete the project is included in the price - just bring yourself and your imagination. I also run children's workshops during school holidays and can provide activities for children's parties (please contact me for more information).
I am a fully certified Powertex Tutor and member of the Powertex UK Design Team. Therefore you won't be surprised to hear that most of my workshops involve working with Powertex products to create some fun, unique and truly beautiful sculptures and other projects.
If you haven't yet experienced Powertex, then you are missing out on an amazingly versatile range of products, which will allow you to easily create some really stunning creations.
I also offer demonstrations and bespoke workshops for individuals, groups, events, parties, etc. Please get in contact to discuss your ideas and what I could do for you.
Welcome to Curiously Contrary, the weird and wonderful home of artist and tutor, Abigail Lagden.
Here you will find examples of my work, information about my workshops and an insight into my motivations and inspirations.
Please explore and enjoy.
My weird and wonderful creations are a clue to what goes on inside my head on an average day (I'm never sure if I should be worried about this).
I use fabric sculpting and mixed media techniques to create pieces with lots of depth, texture and intrigue. They tend to have a magical and mystical feel about them and include fairy houses, gnomes, hares, owls, trinket boxes, journals and much more.
If you have seen me at an event, market or festival and are looking to buy one of my unique pieces, please send me a message and let me know what you are after.
